On March 5 the UTSA Lyric Theatre will present the world premiere of UTSA professor David Heuser’s A Brief History of Root Vegetables, a farce comic opera about a dysfunctional family as they gather for the funeral of the brood’s matriarch.  The story begins as an attempt to locate a priceless gem, hidden somewhere in the house, but devolves into a series of conflicts – including one with the narrator – that lead the entire cast to quit the show, followed by the resulting chaos.  The show will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Buena Vista Theatre on the UTSA downtown campus.  There will be an encore performance March 7 at 3 p.m.  For tickets and information, visit music.utsa.edu.
