One night, one city, hundreds of artists, hundred of thousands of spectators ... it all comes together in one unforgettable experience -- Luminaria.
March 13, from 6 p.m. to midnight, the third annual citywide arts spectacle will light up downtown San Antonio. Last year more than 185,000 people took part in the dazzling all-evening event. Artists, spectators, young couples pushing strollers, old men and women strolling .. the crowd is as diverse as the forms of creativity.
The free, one-night arts festival is unique in the U.S., so it's drawing more of the international creative classeach year. Southwest School of Art and Craft director Paula Owen and multi-media magician George Cisneros are chairing this year's Luminaria , and hundreds of artists and 40 non-profit groups will share their creativity in visual art displays, musical interludes, short theater pieces, readings and film screenings. The action is indoors and outdoors, centered on Alamo Street from Market to Durango and in La Villita, the covention center and HemisFair Park. Go early, dine or picnic downtown. Wear great walking shoes. Take your camera. Be inspired. |
