The Ides of Texas
From Friday, March 19 2010
To Saturday, March 20 2010

Overtime will hold its monthly First Friday celebration March 5, featuring music from Fear Snakeface, Royal Punisher, The Weetles, Nicolette Good, Yoshimoto, and others.  For Contemporary Art Month, the theater will also hold a solo show by local artist/musician Phillip Luna.  March 11 – 27 Overtime will present The Ides of Texas, a short play showcase featuring original work by Texas writers.  The Ides of March marks a historic day when abrupt change had great repercussions.  Similarly, this kind of abrupt change is a prevalent theme in the plays presented in this showcase.  Shows will be Friday – Saturday at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 11 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 21 at 3 p.m.  On April 8 Overtime will hold the world premiere of The Happy Couple, written by local author James Venhaus.  It’s the story of a young lawyer and his wife as they return to a house they once rented.  Squatters now occupy the house and won’t let the couple leave.  Shows are Thursday – Saturday at 8 p.m.  Tickets for both shows are $12 for general admission and $9 for teachers, students and seniors 65 and over.  For tickets and information, call (210)380-0326 or visit www.theovertimetheater.net.
