NIOSA―the mother of all food festivals with close to 250 booths to tempt your taste buds―is a great choice, as is the St. Mary’s Fiesta Oyster Bake, serving over 100,000 oysters. Making Beautiful Music Together

Concerts are always a great idea for a first date, especially if you happen to know what type of music your companion prefers. Fiesta World Class Jazz Concert gathers together national and local artists for an afternoon into evening spectacular, and the San Antonio Symphony will be mixing it up with some mariachi music at Fiesta Pops: Pride of San Antonio. The Marine Forces Reserve Band from New Orleans takes over the Alamo for an hour to provide free musical entertainment at Marines at the Alamo, or if the pageantry of high school marching bands appeals to you, try the Battle of Flowers Band Festival.

Family Affair

Now if you are one of those that are bothered by crowds, or you anger easily looking for a parking place, then use Fiesta as the perfect excuse to stay in and host a party. Just make sure that guy or gal you’ve had your eye on is on the guest list. Throw a poolside Fiesta complete with flavored margaritas and martinis. (I will take a Fiestatini with that, thank you.) Or, how about a Fiesta dinner party with “Cascarone Creations”―all dishes (and even drinks, if you’re brave) made with eggs? Or hold your own Fiesta Coronation with a King and Queen crowned for some creative reason—wore the best hat, ate the most jalapenos, made the best drink. Be sure to create a Fiesta medal to commemorate your event.
